Who we are.

Founded in 1896 and based in Mayfield, a village tucked away in the beautiful countryside of the High Weald, Mayfield Horticultural Society is a friendly group of gardening enthusiasts who love to come together to share tips, swap ideas, and celebrate all things green and growing.

Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just starting out, you’ll find a warm welcome at here. We love to share knowledge, encourage curiosity, and most importantly, enjoy gardening in good company.

What we do.

We host a variety of events throughout the year, from talks by expert speakers to hands-on demonstrations and plant swaps. Our meetings are a mix of learning and fun, with plenty of opportunities to share advice, get inspiration, or simply enjoy the company of fellow gardeners.

Membership also comes with perks, including a 10% discount at two local gardening outlets when you present your membership card. Best of all, you absolutely don’t need to be a gardening expert to join—just bring your enthusiasm for all things green!

Meet our committee.

We’re a group of local people who share a passion for gardening and work together to keep the society thriving. From organising events and shows to planning workshops and managing day-to-day activities, our committee ensures everything runs smoothly.

We may not all be gardening experts, but we bring plenty of enthusiasm to the table! Each of us brings our own skills and ideas, and we’re always keen to hear feedback and new suggestions.
